This is the description of one of the observation hours that I did for my summer school course. The class was also taught at Niles North High School. The class was mainly juniors and the subject was Unites States History. There were 16 kids in the class with 1 teacher. The teacher’s name was Mrs. G. This observation was 42 minutes long. The teacher used discussion style toward the class. This discussion pertained to a packet that the students received, which had information on the lead up to the Vietnam War and the action that was taken by the United States. This packet had multiple documents in it. It had everything from graphs and charts to statistics. The students and teacher read over it in a prior class and they went over it during the class I observed. The teacher went over some of the questions that were on the packet itself and also had some of her own. This discussion was followed by conversation between the students and the teacher about specific, but important parts of the article. At the end of the discussion, the students were to finish the rest of the questions on their own. I enjoyed the class and found it interesting as an observer. I learned teaching techniques in the process of the observation.
Antwan_Babakhani, 10 months ago | FlagBen - This is a great reminder that whether it's the first or last day of school, learning and educational activities should be taking place. I'm glad you had a great experience with observing students at Nile North. Thanks for sharing your reflection in this short, yet informativ e blog. I wish more students would do so.
