  • It is good to get started early in the school year--much like you do with classroom management. I am assuming that you have one of our books so that you know what the habits are and how they fit into the curriculum (ASCD books--Learning and Leading with Habits of Mind or Habits of Mind Across the Curriculum). There are two other terrific resources for activities for Habits of Mind--toolkits published by ASCD authored by Karen Boyes and Graham Watts--one for elementary and one for secondary.
go to www.instituteforhabitsofmind.com and you will find many good ideas and resources for getting started. Welcome. I hope that we can build an active community for learning here. Bena

  • Hello, My name is Robin Ruiz. I am looking forward to collaborating with the group that belongs to Institute for Habits of the Mind. The habits we promote in our classrooms, at our schools and with the school community relate to the climate of the school. Does your school truly promote student acheivement? Wouldn't that mean the students are hungry to learn? Robin Ruiz

  • Just started this group. Art and I have just had an amazing experience working with the Community High School in VT. It is a correctional institution that provides a course on habits of mind. It has had exceptional results.
Has anyone offered a separate course for students that focuses on habits of mind? Bena
