Noruz (March 21) 1967 I and three other youths started a bicycle trip from Sangasar (north of Semnan) over the mountains to Sari. Most of the time we pushed our bikes but we had adequate food and water so no hurry. Three days out we were caught in a blizzard and were blessed to find a village. The mayor put us up in his living room for two days until the snow stopped falling. With two feet of snow, we had to hire horses and continued to walk, only this time it was downhill most of the way. It was an amazing journey. We made it back to Semnan in time for the 13th of Bedar (at least I think that is what it was called) -- we spent the entire day outdoors in a small garden. We called it a "picnic." I cooked a batch of fesenjan to celebrate the new year -- delicious.

Hello Nancy,

I am glad you are interested in education around the world. Same for me. I am on the retirement side of my career. In my younger days I served in the Peace Corps in Iran, taught 6th grade in a German school in Berlin, and did a Fulbright summer in China learning about schools there.

What brings you to your interest in global education?
