that you can be a master teacher without becoming a caricature of someone else’s idea of what a master teacher should look like. You can become a master teacher and still be true to who you are. The trick is to find a way to be who you are and still help students succeed. If you prefer lecture over group activities but your students crave student-to-student discourse, find ways to make your lectures more interactive. If you prefer project-based learning but your curriculum demands benchmark testing, find ways to prepare students for the tests with the projects you design. You don’t have to stop being yourself (you can’t anyway!). Just be the best you and help your students be successful given (or even in spite of) who you are.Elizabeth_Fenimore, 1 month ago | FlagI have recently reas quite a few textbooks and journal articles regarding teacher burnout. Your post summarizes
the ideas in those wrtings and offers real life applicatio ns to avoid burnout. I especially like your last two tips. They are inspiring to me as we finish up the school year. I was loosing steam, but am rejuvinate d and encouraged by these tips. They help me realize that I can take baby steps and still grow as a teacher!
Juliet_Mohnkern, 2 months ago | FlagThank you for this wonderful post! Especially"never work harder than your students." We sometimes say that as "never think for your students" or "let students do the intellectu al lifting!" So important for students learning to think and teachers not burning out! http://edt osavethewo rld.wordpr ess.com/20 13/03/11/w aiting-for -spiderman -internati onal-take- a-risk-in- education- week/

Thank you for the informatio
n you shared. As teachers we often feel burn out. Sometimes we are frustrated when our students do not grasp a concept or even with policy makers for decisions we feel would create a negative inpact. Your informatio n is extremely infomative and would be of benefit to me. I would love to share this informatio n with other colleagues .
